WITHYBUSH hospital and local charities are to benefit from a ‘Decorate a Tree for Charity’ event.

The Cancer Day Unit at Withybush Hospital, The DPJ Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support Charities will all benefit from the generosity of staff and customers at Vincent Davies department store, and their ‘Decorate a Tree for Charity’ event.

Managing Director Sarah John said: “Customers were invited to purchase a Christmas tree decoration from our Christmas department and hang it on our special Christmas tree, with all profits from the sale of the decorations being donated to our Charities of the Year and the fully-decorated tree to the Cancer Day Ward”.

Richard Barfoot, Christmas Buyer and instigator of the ‘Decorate a Tree for Charity’ event at Vincent Davies said: “With the event being in its second year, we have been delighted yet again at the generosity of both staff and customers.”

A total of £316.42 was raised for the two charities and £500 of Vincent Davies Gift Vouchers was presented to the Withybush Hospital Day Ward in lieu of the decorated tree.

Janet Bower, sister on the ward said: “We were excited to be able to come along and select some beautiful decorations for Christmas which will be in keeping with the feel of the unit and create a special atmosphere for the patients as they have their treatments over the festive period.”
