GWENT Police has welcomed 18 of its newest community support officers to the force.
A spokeswoman for the force said that, in April 2017, a recruitment drive for new CSOs was launched, with the 206 applicants then having to pass basic eligibility criteria before submitting a competency-based application form.
She said: "Following on from this, applicants needed to complete an interview process as well as pre-appointment checks.
"The successfully appointed applicants then went on to complete an eight week course covering: legislation, practical assessments as well as dealing with anti-social behaviour, conflict management and hate crime."
They will now be posted to roles across the Force area, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Newport and Monmouthshire,
Gwent Police Chief Constable Julian Williams said: βIt is great to welcome our 18 new recruits into our police family. Their value and presence within our communities will be a great addition to Gwent.
"I wish them all well and look forward to getting out on patrol with them in the future.β
