A TEAM of ten cyclists have pledged to ride from Tenby to Cardiff and back in aid of Haverfordwest’s VC Gallery.

The VCDC team are planning to take part in the Carten100 cycling ride on Saturday, May 12, between Cardiff and Tenby, and then return along the 100-mile route.

The 10 team members have come together from different walks of life to ride for the VC Gallery. Some are military veterans, others are police officers and serving soldiers.

Ospreys’ player Sam Parry visited the gallery’s High Street hub at the end of January to wish the ten cyclists well as they announced their intention to take part in the double Carten.

Gallery founder Barry John commended the VCDC team for their determination. “All these guys have got together to raise awareness of what we do and to raise some money for us too.”

The Carten started with four riders in 2004, and by last year more than 2,500 people took part, raising £251,000 for their chosen charities.

The route for the ride takes in A roads, B roads, and cycle paths from Cardiff to Tenby, and follows the ethos “It is a challenge, never a race”.

The VC Gallery is currently selling hoodies, polo shirts, and t-shirts for the event, and are fundraising for the Carten via charity checkout.
