FEE-fie-foh-fum! The time for Roch’s latest pantomime has come!

This coming weekend, Roch will play host to beanstalks, giants, golden eggs and fairies, as the community put on their production of Nigel Holmes’s Jack and the Beanstalk.

The pantomime features an ensemble cast of all ages from Roch and beyond, with the community responsible for all set and costume design, and incidental music.

Local artist Ken Jarvis had been responsible for the art design, painting all the backgrounds for sets.

Gerry Nicholas will be playing incidental music on keyboard during the panto, with actors also giving their all to sing musical segments.

Dance sequences have been choreographed by Alison from Amethyst Dance.

The community have also worked hard on building a “mechanical wonder” beanstalk which can grow (and come crashing down) with ease.

Sue Pasternak, from Roch, who has been helping to organise the production, praised the hard work which has gone into the pantomime.

The cast and crew have been practising since October, and from January have met twice a week to rehearse.

“We also have a wonderful growing group of talented youngsters taking part,” said Sue.

This is the fifth annual pantomime the village has come together to put on, with past entries including Robin Hood meets Babes in the Wood, Cinderella, and Dick Whittington.

Jack and the Beanstalk will take place at Victoria Hall, Roch, SA62 6JU at 7:30pm on Thursday 22, Friday 23, and Saturday, February 24.

There is also a matinee on the afternoon of Saturday 24.

Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children. All tickets on Saturday night are £6.
