WELSH Sports Personality of the Year, Jonathan Davies, has paid a surprise visit to Narberth CP School.
The British Lion, Welsh international and Scarlets rugby star called in to the school to present it with its Rotakids Charter.
Rotakids is a citizenship programme for older primary school children, and its main objective is to introduce Rotary ideals to young people, aiming for them to have fun while they at the same time raising money for charity or serving the community.
Rotary District Governor Maggie Hughes welcomed the school to the Rotary family, and Jonathan presented the pupil management team – now officially Narberth Rotakids – with their badges, and he also had photos taken with every class in the school. The schools are also exchanging videos, and for Valentine’s Day, the Narberth pupils made badges and bookmarks. Commenting on the school’s link-up with Rotary, headteacher Nia Ward said: “It’s made such a difference to school life. It’s really made our children aware how fortunate they are.”
