Man guilty of child sex attacks

12:54pm Thursday 9th August 2007

A Pembroke Dock man is facing a long prison sentence after a jury convicted him of 21 serious sex offences against five different young girls.

As the police closed in on David Hanratty, 39, he took an overdose of tablets and was arrested inside Withybush hospital.

The offences included charges of rape and sexual assault.

Swansea crown court heard how Hanratty, who lived in Vetch Close, Pembroke Dock at the time but who recently moved to a flat in Bush Street, Haverfordwest, used to drive children to school for a living.

The jury took more than two days before returning verdicts of guilty to every charge.
