A HOLIDAYMAKER in difficulty after his kayak capsized was rescued by St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat on Wednesday, March 28.

The man was part of a father and son team kayaking together. The father had come out of his kayak and was in trouble in the water. He was spotted by a member of the public walking on the coast path who alerted the emergency services.

The casualty was swiftly located off Porth y Ffynon shortly after 4.39pm. The father was taken onboard the lifeboat and was brought ashore by the lifeboat into Porthclais harbour and met by St Davids coastguard rescue team (CRT). His son remained in his kayak and the lifeboat accompanied him into the harbour.

The duo were given safety advice by the coastguards and the lifeboat returned to station.

"Thanks to all involved, especially to the first informant who notified the coastguard," said a spokesman for St Davids CRT

"If you spot anyone you think is in danger on the coast please call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
