A Pembrokeshire event which has blossomed over the years to be regarded as 'the start of the summer social season' is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. The Big Plant Sale on Narberth's Town Moor has grown into a much-loved part of the county calendar and attracts people from far and wide. This year's sale will be on Saturday April 28, and will not only feature wares from West Wales' finest plant-sellers, but also quality live music, local food and drink, textiles, floristry, surf wear, local designers and makers showing and selling their work, all served up in a friendly atmosphere. There is also entertainment for kids in the form of a bouncy castle and face-painting. Growers attending the plant sale will be bringing along an impressive range of flowers, herbs and vegetable plants, as well as specialist stock including bamboos, pond plants, succulents and cacti. A handful of six foot and 12 foot stalls are still available. The Big Plant Sale raises funds for Span Arts, the Narberth-based charity committed to providing performances and arts experiences for people from all over Pembrokeshire. Last year, over 1,000 visitors from all over the three counties attended the event over the course of the day, and it is hoped even more will be attracted this year. Span Arts welcomes plant donations for their own stall and garden-related prizes for their Big Green Raffle. The charity is always grateful for volunteers to help out with the event at every level - contact the office on 01834 869323 for more information or to book a stall.
