Three bottles of vodka have cost a Milford Haven woman more than £200 and a court appearance.

Marion Picton, of Willow End, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft from a shop when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, April 10.

She admitted stealing three bottles of vodka, worth £48 from Tesco, Milford Haven, on March 23, and grocery items valued at £1 from Poundland on the same day.

Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, said that Picton was recognised by a former colleague after taking the items from Poundland.

An attempt was made to keep her in the store, but she left and went on to take the litre bottles of vodka from nearby Tesco.

The court heard that Picton, 38, had previous convictions for shop-lifting, and was subject to a community order.

Magistrates were told that Picton was in the early stages of receiving treatment and medication for drug issues.

Picton was fined £60 and ordered to pay compensation to the shops she stole from.

She was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

The chairman of the bench said: “We very much hope that you will do your best to sort yourself out and make the most of the assistance you are getting.”
