THE Friends of Narberth Library have launched a consultation with library users in the town and surrounding areas that could see the community-managed service open even longer. It is almost two years since Pembrokeshire County Council entered into a partnership arrangement with local volunteers and Narberth Town Council to secure the future of library services for Narberth and the hundreds of users who live in nearby communities. Said the chair of Friends of Narberth Library, Marc Tierney: “The library is going from strength to strength, and as part of our commitment to improve library services we are seeking the views of local library users. We have a fully-trained team of volunteers who are providing an excellent service, now we want to make it even easier for local people to access library services.” At present Pembrokeshire County Council runs the service every Thursday, with Friends of Narberth Library volunteers managing the service on a Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning. Added Mr Tierney: “We think it is really important to open as often as possible and our plans could also mean late-night opening if there is the demand for it. The opening hours survey can be completed in English or Welsh in the library during opening hours, or it can be completed any time online before the end of April by following the link on our public Facebook page www.facebook.com/FONarberthLibrary.”
