Police sniffed out a cannabis stash while a St Davids man watched videos in his car, a court has heard.
Rhys Copley, of Noddfa Dewi, St Davids, pleaded guilty to Class B drug possession, when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, May 8.
Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, told the court that police noticed Copley and a friend sitting in a car in a St Davids car park on February 24, after they were called to the area for an unrelated matter.
Officers became aware of a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle, and 2.44g of the drug was recovered during a search.
Jonathan Webb, defending, said: “Mr Copley and a friend were watching a video in the car. They were not smoking cannabis, but it does have a pungent smell.”
He added that Copley, 24, who had recently started working at a local B&B, had cooperated fully and handed over the drugs.
Magistrates fined Copley £80 and ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
A destruction order was made for the seized drugs.
