NFU Cymru members in Pembrokeshire are invited to the next county meeting hosted on-farm by Jamie Adams and family at Keyston Hill Farm in Keyston, near Haverfordwest.

The meeting on Thursday at 7.30pm will begin with a short tour of the farm by Mr Adams.

Keyston Hill Farm is home to a herd of 420 milking cows with 330 of the cows autumn calving and 90 cows calving in the spring. The 840 acre farm is organic certified and managed on an extensive grass based system supplying milk to OMSCo.

Guest speaker, Gareth Richards, NFU Cymru milk board chairman will then discuss the current market situation and provide an update on recent NFU lobbying in the dairy sector including efforts to set up a dairy producer organisation (DPO) group in Wales.

Gareth will also outline the work of the NFU to secure fairer and more balanced contracts between farmers and milk buyers, better farmer representation and better market data.

There will also be a short update from former NFU Cymru president Stephen James, about the work of the NFU cymru water quality task and finish group and local NFU Cymru members Will Prichard and Mike Smith will provide an update on efforts to develop a farmer-led alternative to NVZ regulations in the form of a nutrient off-set scheme that can deliver improvements to water quality.
