A PEMBROKESHIRE mum who has raised thousands of pounds for Help for Heroes through charity bake sales has become a web hit in a film produced for the forces' rehabilitation charity.

The film, where she encourages other people to raise money with bake sales for Help for Heroes, was viewed over 12,000 times in the first three hours after it was released on the charity’s Facebook page.

Sally Amoore, aged 64, from Llanddewi Velfrey, was inspired to fundraise after her soldier son sustained massive injuries while serving in Afghanistan in 2009.

Captain James Amoore, now 33, was thrown 30 feet in the air when he stood on a Taliban mine.

The platoon commander with 2nd Battalion The Rifles was airlifted to the UK for life-saving treatment, which included 15 operations.

Despite breaking both his legs and ankles and losing the sight in his left eye, his limbs were saved and James was rehabilitated at Headley Court, Surrey, which was renovated using money donated by the charity.

Sally has now raised over £48,000 with her bake sales, with the next one taking place on Narberth's Townsmoor car park on June 23 from 9.30am-4pm.

She has been chosen to feature in the film promoting the charity's Bake for Heroes campaign, which will run on social media in June.

Sally says she still raises money for the charity because there is still a need for those who have injuries resulting from their service to receive support.

Help for Heroes Regional Recovery Manager in Wales, Shelley Elgin, said: “Sally is one of the true champions of Help for Heroes in Wales.

“We wanted to thank Sally for all she’s done to raise money for Help for Heroes and to encourage people to take part in Bake for Heroes themselves, to raise money to support the work we do across Wales throughout the year.”
