STAR bakers have helped an ex-soldier's mum raise around £1,500 for the forces rehabilitation charity, Help for Heroes.

Sally Amoore from Llanddewi Velfrey was inspired to fundraise after her son sustained massive injuries while serving in Afghanistan in 2009.

The latest in her bake sales in aid of the charity took place on Narberth's Townsmoor car park on Saturday, and bring her total raised for Help for Heroes over the years to £50,000.

Donations of cakes and bakes saw the stall doing brisk business in the sunshine, and personnel from14 Signal Regiment, Cawdor Barracks were there to lend their support.

Said Shelley Elgin, recovery manager, Help for Heroes Wales: "Once again, Sally has pulled out all the stops with a phenomenal effort on behalf of our wounded, injured and sick veterans and serving personnel.

"We are grateful for everything she and her fellow bakers have done across the country, raising money to support our vital work in Recovery Centres and in the community across Wales."

Sally, who this year was chosen to feature in the social media film promoting the Bake for Heroes campaign, added: "I'm very grateful to everyone for their support, and especially to the kind, generous and talented bakers who helped to ensure that our stall was well-stocked."
