AN ART exhibition which aims to bring colour and culture to the streets of Haverfordwest is returning for a third year.

Breaking out of the Gallery’s third year will see Haverfordwest bursting with art, inside and out, and has doubled in size since last year.

Arthur Brooker, who organises the project said: “As many will be aware, the public opinion of Haverfordwest Town Centre hasn't been great since the arrival of big retail park in the Withybush industrial estate.

“Business within the town centre have been hit with a decrease in footfall forcing many local businesses to close their doors.

“While it is hard for small retail shops to compete with the likes of TK-Max and Debenhams we aim to create something different in our town which the commercial giants will never be able to offer, original Art and Culture in an attempt to see our town bustling with life once again, bringing back the footfall which the local economy depends upon.”

Breaking out of the Gallery is billed as an “art gallery with a difference”, displaying framed artwork on the streets of the town, blurring the boundaries between street art and gallery exhibitions.

This year the project is hosting three separate exhibitions in Haverfordwest over the summer.

The first is the Breakout Exhibition, the flagship project hosted in outside locations all over Haverfordwest, with more than 50 artists’ works on display this year based around the theme Bright Futures.

The Breakout exhibition opens on July 18 with a tour starting at 6pm from Salutation Square. The exhibition will continue until the start of September.

The second is Seabirds, an Immersive Exhibition by Jean Thomas hosted in the old Ocky White Travel Agency.

The third is a series of huge murals to be displayed as part of this year’s HaverBeer Fest in the old post office on Quay Street.

The project team will also be hosting a series of art and regeneration tours as part of Haverfordwest Festival week.
