MORE THAN 130 people enjoyed a day of deliciousness and Dorothy last Saturday as the third Fishguard Fictional Food Festival brought cake and community spirit to the twin towns.

The event was organised by Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard Library and the Lota Park Project to raise funds for the Lota Project which aims to replace play equipment and build a new skate park in Lota Park.

Fifteen venues in Fishguard and Goodwick offered tasty treats. The £5 tickets also included a ticket to Theatre Gwaun where the original Wizard of Oz was screened.

Each venue took on a literary theme to inspire their décor and delicacies. The Old Bakehouse served Harry Potter’s cauldron cakes and magic jelly beans, Goodwick’s Rose and Crown was florally fantastic as the Secret Garden and the globe served Cider with Rosie.

Other treats included Beatrix Potter themed ice creams at Hooked, Pangalactic Gargle Blasters at the library and muffins from the muffin man at the Ocean Lab and the Royal Oak.

Theatr Gwaun was transformed into the Emerald City complete with a wicked witch of the west and ruby slippers and visitors both young and old enjoyed a screening of the classic The Wizard of Oz.

The town’s third fictional food festival was supported by the Roundtable, Lions and the Town Council and raised funds for the Lota Project.

“Thanks to all the businesses that took part for their time and generosity and to all the people who took part,” said the Lota Project’s Rebecca LeFevre. “Every fundraiser that people support is one step closer to a park for the whole community.”
