THE countdown is on to a trio of charity events on land and sea that aim to raise £20,000 for their three chosen good causes.

The FootStep Run today (Friday), and the TenFoot Swim and TenFoot Trek tomorrow (Saturday) have attracted a combined entry of 850 people.

They will be in aid of Paul Sartori Hospice at Home; the Wales Air Ambulance and the Dai Rees Foundation, which provides pre-hospital emergency care training to communities around the world.

The inaugural FootStep Run, sponsored by FBM Estate Agents, is centered on Saundersfoot this (Friday) evening.

The fun starts at 6.30pm with a children's race along and back down The Strand.

At 7pm, there are runs of one, three or five miles, taking in the Strand, Coppett Hall, the tunnels along to Wiseman's Bridge and Heritage Park at Stepaside.

Musical entertainment in the village will create a great atmosphere and there are prizes for the highest sponsored runner and best fancy dress.

Over 100 local businesses have signed up to support the event, sending representatives to run.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the FBM Holidays TenFoot Swim starts at Tenby's North Beach at 11.30am, with 300 entrants making their way along the 5km course towards Saundersfoot, supported by a fleet of safety craft. TenFoot Swim medals will be presented in Saundersfoot by the village community council chair, Martyn Williams and the mayor of Tenby, Sue Lane.

At the same time, the TenFoot Trek takes place along the coast path between Tenby and Saundersfoot.

The events conclude with a charity bands night at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot for ticket-holders only.
