HAVERFORDWEST’s library has held an event which was the first of its kind…

When PRIME Cymru and Pembrokeshire Libraries collaborated on the Haverfordwest Here to Help You event on June 14 it was the first of its kind in the town.

PRIME Cymru is a charity founded by HRH the Prince of Wales in 2001, to support those aged 50 and above to become and remain economically active.

The charity now has a dedicated development officer Hilary Vaughan who covers the whole of Pembrokeshire and can be found out and about across the county at events, libraries and community centres.

Hilary said: “It is wonderful to see so many providers all together in one location and so keen to help in whatever way they can.

“This event was the result of a successful collaboration between Haverfordwest Library Management and PRIME Cymru and one I hope to be able to take it to all Pembrokeshire libraries in the near future.”

The Active Inclusion PRIME People project, which has been supported by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government, supports people to get involved in their communities, start up a business, retrain, return to work or any other individual support they may need to move them closer to the world of work.

Kath Woolcock, the Site Manager for Haverfordwest Library said: “It’s been a fantastic opportunity to meet so many organisations, all of whom are providing help and support in Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire.”

This event was opened by the Sheriff of Haverfordwest, Cllr Chris Thomas, who said: “It was an honour and pleasure to be invited to the Here to help You event.

“I am a great believer in the over 50s continuing employments for as long as they can and to have a varied and active social life.”
