A Milford Haven woman has disputed forensic findings and insisted she was in possession of heroin.

Marion Picton, of Willow End, Mount Estate, pleaded guilty to Class A drug possession when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, July 17, but insisted the substance was heroin rather than cocaine.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at Picton’s home on January 3, and found traces of white powder on an empty bag and two pipes with burn marks which were consistent with being used for smoking heroin.

A forensic report stated that the powder was cocaine, but Picton, 38, was adamant it was heroin.

Mark Layton, defending, said: “She has a long history of heroin use and knows heroin.

“She says you can’t smoke cocaine and she does not use it. She thinks there has been a mix-up somewhere.”

He added: “She is willing to plead guilty, but just wants the charge to properly reflect what she had.”

Picton was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.

A destruction order was made for the drug paraphernalia.
