BEREAVEMENT and remembering those who has passed away is the theme of one of the latest exhibitions at the VC Gallery.

The gallery is hosting a display of ‘ash memorials’, paintings designed to capture the nature of a lost loved one by scattering their ashes throughout an impressionistic landscape scene.

The works are the brainchild of Sally Williams, who runs JustNice, an arts and craft shop on Quay Street, Haverfordwest.

Barry John, founder of the VC Gallery, said the works were a unique way for families to remember those they have lost.

“You think about what this gives someone – these pictures are personalised art that can give families a brilliant legacy of the person they love while expressing their nature through Sally’s artistic vision,” he said.

“If anyone has lost anyone close to them and is dealing with grief it is very powerful thing. What Sally is trying to do is try to help people with their grief through an artistic form.”

Each piece in the current collection is unique, using different colours and landscapes as the basis of different people’s natures.

Sally’s hopes to help families with commissioned pieces about their loved ones in the future, and is also planning to make jewellery using a similar process.

She has also said she would like to make pieces to help those who have lost family pets.
