It might be the other end of the country, but the Snowdon Mountain Railway has been shown to be one of the wonders of Wales, thanks to some awe-inspiring drone footage.

The footage shows off Snowdon’s stunning scenery as the traditional steam engine winds its way up the highest peak south of the Scottish Highlands.

Drone company CameraDroneUK.com took advantage of the recent great weather to show off the fantastic views of the moutain as well as the surrounding areas of Snowdonia.

The aerial footage, follows engine on its journey from the century old Llanberis station, all the way to the top of Snowdon’s 1,085 metre peak.

The footage also captures images of the wonderful lakes found in the various cwms of the Snowdon range, including Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn, both of which are available to visit on the mountain walk paths.

With the exception of two World Wars, Snowdon Mountain Railway has run uninterrupted since 1896.

The railway carries more than 130,000 passengers annually and has even been used to help mountain rescue teams working on Snowdon.   Offering a heritage steam service and traditional diesel locomotives, the Snowdon Mountain Railway offers visitors the chance to enjoy the spectacular Welsh mountain scenery just as the Victorians would have done back in 1896.
