A CELEBRATION of 100 years of votes for women will form part of Narberth Carnival parade tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

A trio of giant puppets representing three inspirational ladies will feature in the Wonder Women procession in the lively parade.

Western Telegraph:

The puppets will depict former Paralympian, Tanni Grey-Thompson; suffragette leader, Emmeline Pankhurst and poet and civil rights activist, Maya Angelou.

They have been selected as Welsh, UK and international figures in a public vote in Pembrokeshire.

The Wonder Women theme has been developed by Span Arts within the Narberth Civic Week-organised carnival.

Community groups, volunteers and local individuals have worked with talented local puppet maker, Di Ford, to bring the chosen Wonder Women to life.

Said Di: "This has been a fun and challenging project to work on.

"It's been no mean feat constructing these three-metre-high giants, and the participants and volunteers have done an amazing job."

A Victorian-themed street fair in Narberth town centre tomorrow morning will precede the carnival parade.

Floats and walkers will leave from Station Road for the 2pm procession, with the prize presentations on the rugby field immediately afterwards (field entry £1 for adults, children free).
