A NORTH Pembrokeshire businessman is setting off from Fishguard Show on Friday, August 3, to embark on a 400-mile tractor run to raise funds for a charity's lifesaving research.

Meurig Harries, 76, co-owns Croesgoch's M&S Transport, and the village's farm stores, with his wife Mary Harries and their daughter and son in law, Anthea and Stephen Phillips.

He has recently undergone treatment for prostate cancer and is a keen supporter of the charity Prostate Cymru. In the past he has had two of his company's lorries painted with information about Prostate Cymru and helped organise the Croesgoch Tractor Run, which raised more than £14,000 for the charity in 2016.

On Friday Meurig will call in at Fishguard Show before catching the lunchtime ferry to Rosslare.

The following day he will drive from Rosslare to Dublin and then take the Stena Line ferry back to Holyhead.

On August 5 he will drive down coast of Wales back to Fishguard. He is hoping that local tractor clubs and enthusiasts will come and meet him at various points on his journey through west Wales.

"At the age of 76 most people his age are thinking of slowing down," said his daughter Emma Evans.

"But having just undergone treatment for Prostate Cancer dad has now decided to undertake a 400-mile tractor run to raise awareness of prostate cancer and also to raise funds for this fantastic charity."

During the three days of Pembrokehire County Show, August 14-16, the tractor will be on display for all show visitors to see and help with further fundraising for Prostate Cymru.
