SOLVA'S Edge Festival returns for its fourth year, this Friday, August 3, for a weekend of music, literature, sport and food.

The festival this year includes such highlights as the Swim to the Edge, a 2.4mile swim out to sea; a beach safari led by local marine biologist, Dr Lou Luddington; Tom Thumb, a Magic Circle magician; an appearance by Jono Voyce, recently featured on Country File, on how to clean crabs; music from bands such as The Phonics, Wild Boys and Supaskas. There will also be family friendly football and rugby tournaments.

While visitors to the site are enjoying the music, they can eat delicious food provided by Mamgu Welshcakes, Rhosyn Farm, Cowpots Icecream and Pizza Pete, amongst others.

The Green Scar bar has local ales and ciders and this year, for the first time, there will be a gin palace selling Solva's very own gin.

The festival is great for kids with a soft play area for toddlers, a huge bouncy castle, a cupcake making workshop, clay modelling, a river walk and bat hunt. You can also learn how to paddle board by booking a session with The Edge team.

Sunday features literature as well as music, with appearances from the Welsh Book of the Year winner, Robert Minhinnick as well as Miriam Nash and Steve Thorp.

The dance troupe Tongues will take time off from the Torch Theatre to entertain the Edge Festival crowd.

The festival is put on by the Solva community and all the money raised goes into local organisations and charities, such as St David's Memory Cafe, Porthmawr Lifesavers, Solva Youth Club, Frame, the RNLI and many more.

Camping is provided close to the festival site. For more information see https://www.edgefestival.co.uk.
