Entering the wrong part of town cost a drunk Haverfordwest woman £235.

Melanie Tester of Dew Street, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community protection notice when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, August 7.

The court heard that police received a report at 10.10am on July 21, that people were in Hanover Court, Haverfordwest, who should not be there, including Tester, 46, and found they were all intoxicated.

She was prohibited from entering the area by a community protection notice, issued to prevent public order issues.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said: “Miss Tester was highly intoxicated. She was struggling to walk and could not speak in a clear manner. She kept repeating herself.”

Mike Kelleher, defending, told the court that Tester, who had alcohol issues, had been experiencing a particularly difficult time, but had been referred to services which could support her.

“She should not have been there, and she was. She was invited there by a male friend who had been living at that address, but she should not have accepted the invite.”

Mr Kelleher added: “On this particular occasion, because of the pressure she had been under, she rather fell off the wagon, and attended Hanover Court.”

The court heard that there had not been any reports of noise or ‘outrageous behaviour’ on the day in question.

Magistrates fined Tester £120 and ordered her to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
