A NEW location and a sun-drenched afternoon led to a successful Nevern Show last Wednesday, August 8.

The show has relocated to Bayvil Farm and the new site received a good reaction from visitors and organisers alike.

The event had plenty to offer for all ages and interests, from good entries in the livestock, horticultural and craft categories to show jumping and a dog show.

The ever-popular sheepdog show saw ducks and kids rounded up while Pembrokeshire Falconry's display got off to a flying start.

Demonstrations of traditional skills such as sheep shearing, blacksmithing and shoeing sat nicely alongside a display of vintage vehicles and engines.

There were trade stands aplenty showcasing local businesses and crafts people as well as local beer from the Bluestone Brewery and good food, bug handling and a children's fun fair.

"It was a very good day," said the show's honorary secretary, Jeff Merrigan.

"Everybody liked the new site, quite a few people came back and said how good it was.

"We had a couple of quiet hours on the gate first thing when it rained but then the weather picked up and people started piling in. The quality of the livestock was very good and the numbers about the same as last year. The horticulture was very goof d this year and we had a good craft tent.

"We seemed to have a lot more vintage vehicles and hopefully next year we will have a vintage parade.

"There was a good variety of trade stands and we had good feedback.

"I would like to thank Geraint Rees, of Bayvil Farm, and his family for all their hard work in getting the site ready. I don't think we can thank him enough.
