UNEMPLOYMENT dropped year-on-year in Pembrokeshire last month, according to the latest Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) figures.
Set against national unemployment figures of four per cent, the lowest since 1975, Pembrokeshire had 1,385 claimants in July, 305 of them 18-24s.
This represents a drop of 40, and 20 respectively compared to July 2017.
Pembroke Dock-based DWP Employer Advisor Fred Hatton said: “The latest figures show that Pembrokeshire employment is benefitting in line with other parts of Wales and the UK which is good news for all.
“A host of activities have been organised and delivered to interested parties including benefit claimants, employers, partners and providers to prepare the way for the introduction of Universal Credit Full Service in Pembrokeshire on September 5. Information for all can be found on the gov.uk website. However, Jobcentre staff will be able to assist with any queries during normal working hours.”
