THE ST Mary’s Junior Singers enthralled an audience on a July evening with their rendition of Roger Jones’ musical, Greater than Gold.

The group was formed about two years ago and practices every week at St Mary’s.

The musical tells the story of Mary Jones and her Bible, a story which Wales has given to the world and one which has been re-told many times.

Nevertheless, Greater than Gold was an ideal way for the children to demonstrate what they have learnt and what they can achieve.

In a sequence of wonderfully tuneful songs, the story unfolds and the Junior Singers impressed everyone with their all-round ability and sincerity.

At the end of the performance they were rewarded with prolonged applause.

The production was directed by Gill White, Parish warden, and accompanied by Pat Swales Barker, Churchwarden at St Mary’s.

Each performer was presented with a new Bible following the performance.

A retiring collection of £200 was donated to support for Syrian refugees in Pembrokeshire, and the VC Gallery, some of whose members who made the scenery.

The production was made possible by a grant from a fund administered by the St David’s Diocesan Children and Youth Team.

Young people over the age of 6 are welcome to join the Singers.

The next practice will take place on Wednesday, September 12 at 5pm.
