A HAVERFORDWEST community centre is getting ready to celebrate its first birthday with pints and pitches.

It has been 12 months since the lease was signed for HaverHub to occupy the old post office building on Quay Street.

Now the community centre is hosting this year’s August bank holiday Beerfest and taking orders from community groups wanting to hire a big shed from November.

“Getting the town rocking is top of the agenda, through collaborating with many others who have fantastic ideas for what could be put on the town centre social calendar,” said HaverHub founder Gitti Coats.

HaverBeer Fest will take place of Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26, collaborating with the team who usually run the Castle beer fest but wanted a year off.

The team said they are delighted to help out by keeping the August Bank holiday weekend beer fest event running, as it has built a loyal following over 10 years.

A wide selection of Welsh beers and ciders are on order as well as a prosecco bar and great local street foods.

Live music is lined up from noon till very late on both Saturday and Sunday.

The festival will be family friendly until 7pm.

The community centre is always looking for new volunteers to join the crew of HaverHelpers.

The HaverHub team has a busy six months coming up, with a new roof planned for the large shed, allowing for a warehouse-style events venue.

Work will also begin on the main building, including weather-proofing the roof and windows.

Booking will also soon be possible for events over the winter when the new shed roof goes on in October.
