OVER £800 was raised for the Daniel Bridle Memorial Fund - which supports the Bone Cancer Research Trust - at a recent garden party in Pentlepoir.

Susan and Brian McKehon welcomed around 60 people to the garden of their home for the event, which took place on a beautiful sunny day.

The couple are dedicated fundraisers in support of the memorial fund for Daniel. The Saundersfoot youngster sadly lost his fight against bone cancer in 2014 at the age of 18.

Amongst the visitors were staff members Andy McNabney and Sarah Richards from Jewson of Tenby. The company had sponsored the event by providing help, advice and support when the McKehons' garden became invaded by bamboo roots, threatening the planned charity day.

On offer at the garden party were teas, coffees and cakes - both homemade and donated by many local businesses and individuals. There were also many generous donations of raffle prizes.

A total of £829 was raised on the day, with donations still being received. For those who were unable to attend and would like to give to the worthy cause, donations of £5 can always be made by texting BCRT DANIEL on 70800.

Daniel's mother, Caroline, has also been raising funds at the Tesco Express stores in Saundersfoot and Tenby, and to date has raised over £400.

The star raffle prize of four tickets to Skomer in 2019 was won by Mrs Legrice of Pentlepoir.

Garden games winners were: guess the weight of the cake (3lbs 9.2oz), Janet Standing; number of sweets in the jar (130), Logan Joyce; name the teddy bear (Geraint), Brooke Joyce; bowls, Cody Davies; golf, Mike Skidmore; ping pong, Jay Davies and Paige Joyce and marbles, Ethan Burks.

Cakes and soft drinks left over from the event were donated to Tenby Ambulance Service, Tenby police, Tenby lifeboat station; A&E, Phlebotomy and Rheumatology at Withybush Hospital and Pembrokeshire Foodbank, Narberth.
