An absent drug-worker led to a damaged door.

Darren Rees, of Catalina Avenue, Pembroke Dock, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, August 28.

The court heard that Rees called to see his usual drug-worker at Haven Way, Pembroke Dock, at 10am on August 8, but she was not there and he was told he could see someone else.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said: “He was not happy with that. He was causing a disturbance and was asked to leave and come back when he was less aggressive.”

Rees, 38, kicked the front door, causing a pane of safety glass to shatter and crack, and breaking the wooden beading.

He was still at the scene when police officers arrived ten minutes later, and was arrested.

Jonathan Webb, defending, said Rees had wanted to discuss his prescription with the drug-worker he had dealt with for the past ten years, and was unhappy when he was unable to.

He added that Rees went to leave, but the green exit button had not been pressed in time as he approached the door, and it did not release when he tried to open it with his foot.

“This incident was where he had been a little heavy-footed.”

Magistrates imposed a six-month conditional discharge and ordered Rees to pay £745 compensation to Hywel Dda Health Board.

He will also pay £105 in court costs and a surcharge.
