NARBERTH Food Festival is serving up an exciting menu for foodies, families and fun-lovers to mark its 20th birthday.

The lively event, on the Town Moor on Saturday September 22 and Sunday September 23, features around 50 tempting food and drink stalls.

It is also welcoming several new faces to its Food Theatre and staging extra masterclasses, following the success of last year's food and drink-themed workshops.

Leading the line-up in the Food Theatre is Bryn Williams, widely regarded as one of Wales' best chefs.

Bryn, chef and sole proprietor of Odette's Restaurant in London's Primrose Hill, is a BBC Saturday Kitchen regular and has published three books. He created his pan-fried turbot with oxtail and cockles for The Queen's 90th birthday banquet, and in Narberth will be cooking braised sweetcorn and wood pigeon for the festival's own celebration.

Said Bryn: "I'm delighted to be travelling to Narberth to help Narberth Food Festival celebrate its 20th anniversary year.

"I've heard a lot of good things about this friendly festival, and I'm really looking forward to coming home to Wales and being a part of one of its top events."

Bryn and Pembrokeshire forager Matt Powell will also feature in a Restaurant Confidential on-stage chat with food writer, broadcaster and restaurateur Simon Wright.

Also starring in the Food Theatre are Pembrokeshire cook and writer Vic North, who will be showing how to rustle up quick fish suppers; vegan writer and blogger Sarah Philpott, stirring up easy one-pot vegan meals and Allister Barsby, executive chef at The Grove of Narberth, who will be creating a dish from his a la carte menu at The Grove's Fernery restaurant.

Lia Moutselou will be sharing secrets from her Greek kitchen, while festival favourite Ludo Dieumegard from the Harbourmaster at Aberaeron has chosen 12-hour slow roast shoulder of lamb with mixed spices as his recipe of the day.

Adding to the mix of the weekend are workshops in fish preserving, foraging and fermenting, with masterclasses and tutored tastings in gin and whisky, for which participants book and pay on the day.

Children are also well catered for at the festival with free, bee-themed activities with Amelia Stone of Big Play, Narberth, while there's a full programme of entertainment from musicians and walkabout acts.
