Shots were fired outside a Pembroke Dock pub on Sunday evening.

The area was cordoned off for several hours as armed police swooped on Bush Street after the landlady of Chancers pub report ed shots being fired at her premises.

Landlady Anne Thompson said: "As soon as I heard the shots the first thing I thought of was the little boy in Liverpool. Some of my guests upstairs could have been hurt."

The incident occurred following an altercation outside the pub and involved an air-rifle.

A number of shots were said to have been fired and an upstairs window of the pub was smashed by an air-rifle pellet but no-one was injured.

"It was really worrying at the time. You really don't expect things like this to happen in Pembroke Dock," added Miss Thompson.

Erson Tarhan, who lives on Bush Street and saw the commotion, said: "It is usually quiet but Sunday night was a terrible night. There was fighting outside and then the whole road was closed off and full of police with dogs."

People inside the pub were unable to leave the premises until about 1am.

The suspect fled the scene when police arrived, but an air- rifle was recovered nearby.

A man was arrested that night.

the town must be in a hell of a state to see this sort of thing going on.

On a more pleasant note I suspect there will have been a huge amount of heartache going on about being locked in a pub until 1pm.

Now thats an excuse that I would never have thought of, or got away with.
