A MUM who lost her teenage son to bone cancer is seeking for help with her fundraising to help the fight against the disease.

Daniel Bridle of Saundersfoot was only 18 when he died in 2014.

Since then his mother, Caroline, has been a dedicated fundraiser for the Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT), as well as other cancer charities, including Latch.

Recently, the Daniel Bridle Trust Fund has been set up, which will see all money raised going to the BCRT for research into osteosarcoma, the type of bone cancer which Daniel had and which is most common in teenagers and young adults.

"My priority is to help the children who are still suffering," said Caroline, who is supported in her fundraising by husband Richard, son Lewis and daughter Nicole.

"It is so important to keep fighting."

The trust fund recently received £1,900 from a garden party in Pentlepoir held by Susan and Brian McKehon and its next major fundraiser will be at a prize bingo night on what would have been Daniel's 23rd birthday.

This will take place at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty on Friday September 28 at 7.30pm.

Caroline works part-time in Tesco in Saundersfoot, where a life-size cardboard figure of Daniel encourages customers to donate to his trust fund.

"Tesco are very supportive, and have given me two dates in December to bag pack in aid of the fund at their Cardiff superstore," said Caroline.

"The shop apparently takes £3m a day on the run-up to Christmas, so that's a lot of customers! If we could have bagpackers at all the checkouts on our dates, that would be wonderful.

"Tesco will also give certificates to charity helpers which they can use as a volunteering record, which may be useful to young people for their CVs or Duke of Edinburgh awards."

Anyone who would be able to help Caroline with her fundraising, and particularly the bag-packing on Monday December 17 and Saturday December 22, can contact her on 01834 811270 or 07496 043031.
