Drugs and guns seized in clean up raids

Firearms, amphetamine, and cannabis have been seized from properties in Pembrokeshire as a result of Not in my Neighbourhood week raids.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys police said that, during the week, Misuse of Drugs Act warrants have been executed throughout Pembrokeshire.

In other enforcement activity yesterday, centered on Tenby and Narberth, two cars were seized from drivers who had no insurance and the offenders were reported. The DVLA also clamped 14 vehicles that did not have the correct documentation.

Traffic wardens were on patrol throughout the area and issued 40 fixed penalty notices and seven warning letters.

An arrest was made following a referral from PCSOs on patrol in Tenby.

Clean up operations took place throughout the day, as Tenby's Jubilee play area, the underpass in Kilgetty and a bus shelter in the Glebe were all cleaned an repainted.

The week's emphasis on education and crime prevention continued. Both visitors and residents visited the road show at Saundersfoot harbour and 35 people signed up for free lock fitting from the Bobby van.

One unexpected road show visitor was a stray dog, who was handed in to officers. The animal was given to the dog warden who was patrolling the area as part of the campaign.

The neighbourhood policing teams visited residents in New Hedges, Tenby, Penally, Manorbier and Narberth and school children attended talks on anti-social behaviour and road safety.

"We are now half way through Not in my Neighbourhood week and the activity so far has been well received by residents," said Sally Thompson, of Pembrokeshire Community Safety Partnership.

"We are demonstrating the good work carried out by agencies on a day to day basis in order to show what happens when we all work together with the communities.

"Getting young people involved in projects is getting the message across at a young age that we can all make a difference."

Today the road show travels to Asda in Pembroke Dock and projects will be taking place in various areas including Monkton.

"On Friday we are in Fishguard," said Sally, "and we hope to see as many people as possible come and join us."
