Bin your blades today

Pembrokeshire police officers are urging people to hand over knives at police stations across the county during a knife amnesty starting today.

Six police stations in the county will have secure red wheelie bins installed at front counters until January 6th. People are being given the chance to bin their knives at these locations without the fear of being prosecuted.

The stations taking part are Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock, Fishguard, Tenby, Milford Haven and Narberth.

Chief Inspector Steve Matchett, said: "Pembroke-shire is one of the safest counties in the UK. However, all communities can be affected by knife crime and we have seen the tragic effects that such incidents can have on our communities. We need to ensure these are reduced and that young people in particular, who think they feel safer if they are carrying a knife know they are putting their lives in danger.

"We are working extremely hard to make Pembrokeshire a safer place and the knife amnesty is part of our on-going commitment to that cause. I would urge anyone who illegally possesses a knife to take this opportunity to hand it in to us during the amnesty."
