Fuel protests at refineries and fuel storage depots will begin this Saturday (December 15th), an action group has warned.

On its website Transaction 2007 said a nation-wide protest would begin at 10am on Saturday.

The posting said: "Transaction 2007 has decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.

"This date was decided by members as the best possible to ensure those who would normally be working during the week to attend.

"This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you.

"Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the time".

Transaction 2007, which says it is working with and for the UK's transport and farming industries, added: "Greed is what seems to fuel the people in power and this is what it's all about, greed".

The Road Haulage Association said it would "always support members who wish to protest legally" but denied any direct links with Transaction 2007.

In 2000 Pembroke's Chevron refinery and Milford Haven's Total refinery were blockaded. See Wednesday's Western Telegraph for full story.

Somebody need to stand up to the pathetic money grabbing taxation of fuel prices.

Brown must look at his policy on this and the only way is to put it in his face.

It is a pain and no doubt I will be one of those frustrated drivers hunting for some fuel, but they have my full support.

GO FOR IT !!

If every car driver studied how they sometimes wastefully used their vehicle(s)they could probably make alternative travelling arrangements. This would reduce the amount of fuel purchased - considerably. Go for it; make your own protest in this way. It would not take long for the petrol companies to reduce their prices . This is real people power. Look how much money you could save as well; and for the greens out there - big gains! Not everyone can do this but most of us can. Systematically buy the cheapest fuel as well.

Mal, It's Mr Brown that is the cause of the problem, not the fuel companies. God luck to the protesters I say.

Perhaps it might be an idea for car owners to get organised and form a protest group, and back up the Transport Companies.

What the goverment said was the taxation of fuel was to make people use public trasport more! and cars less. but what we haven't got is reliable public transport. and whatever taxation there is in fuel is also shown in prices for public transport!

I was 100% behind the protests last time, and am 100% behind them this time.

£4.86 roughly a gallon is well beyond a joke, tbh I can't see why it is taking so much longer for action, as it has been over the pound a litre for ages now.

and yet the fat cats will still get away with it, because the action can't stop the trucks from leaving, and from them getting the money when the protests finish, they aren't going to take any action, the only ones that can are the general public who voted them into power!
