Get ready for a Rowdy night

WHAT would you do if you were sitting ringside and saw the man you had been talking to in the bar earlier getting a hammering from his opponent's wife?

Sheila Summers knew exactly what to do .... she climbed up into the ring and got stuck in. Before the referee could do anything all four wrestlers were going hammer and tongs at each other.

Words were exchanged and, as a direct result, Sheila and professional wrestler Roy Bevis, from Northfleet, will top the bill at the Woodville Halls, Gravesend, next Wednesday night against "Rowdy" Ricky Night and wrestling's first lady, The Sweet Saraya.

The incident that sparked this grudge match happened in the final show last year.

Sheila, who has combat experience, was knocked about in the ring by both Saraya and Knight, and it was Roy who then had to help her.

Roy and Sheila were more than happy to pick up the gauntlet thrown down by Knight and Saraya, and Roy has been training his partner since Christmas.

A spokesman for Rumble Wrestling Promotions said: "We do not normally encourage members of the public to get involved in the action, but Roy Bevis has agreed to train Miss Summers and, from what we hear, she has the makings of a fine lady wrestler."

The tag match is part of an exciting bill that also sees a number of Kent-based stars in action.

Maidstone-based Doug "Anarchist" Williams returns after a spell abroad, while Steve "Annaconda" Manelli, from Tonbridge, and Sheppeys Danny "British Beef" Royal will show off their own kind of special ring behaviour.

The all-action show starts at 8pm and tickets are on sale from the Woodville Hall box office at £8 for adults, £6 children and OAPs. Call 01474 337460 to book, or pay at the door on the night. But be warned, these shows are usually sell-outs, so check availability of tickets before travelling.
