Blackadder legend hails county rail journey

Blackadder legend Tony Robinson has a cunning plan to promote a Pembrokeshire rail journey.

The TV historian - made famous by the role of Baldrick - has named the Pembroke Dock to Swansea journey one of his top 10 rail rides in the UK.

Tony loved the walks available on the route and praised the Pembrokeshire Rail Travellers Association for their booklets which detail the routes available.

"This has been a particularly happy discovery for me, as I've always had a soft spot for Pembrokeshire and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in particular".

Tony also loved the old fashioned ways of the quieter stations - telling the guard in advance to get off and signalling to the driver in good time to get on.

'It's like travelling back in time, isn't it?" he said.

"When you finally arrive in Pembrokem Barafundle Bay is only a few miles away. It's one of the cleanest most unspoiled beaches in the UK, with bright yellow dunes, shiny sand and crystal clear water."
