Teacher strike hits Pembrokeshire schools

The strike action by members of the National Union of Teachers affected an estimated 4,250 primary school pupils and 500 secondary school pupils according to Pembrokeshire County Council figures.

Only one school was closed today, Ysgol Dewi Sant, but 46 primary schools were partially closed. Pembrokeshire's seven other secondary schools remained open.

Pupils who are taught by NUT members were not in school today as their classes were cancelled due to the strike action.

The partially closed primary schools included Portfield Special School, Predergast, and Fenton school in Haverfordwest. Schools in Pembroke Dock, Fishguard, Milford Haven, and Solva were also affected.
