Get designing for Blue Rock poster comp


Are you an aspiring artists? Under 25? Love music? If the answer to all or any of the above is yes then dig out your crayons and get designing: the Celtic Blue Rock festival's poster competition is now officially open.

The winning poster will be used to promote the festival and should reflect the spirit and nature of the community festival by using an appropriate image or images. Text is optional, if not used it will be added by the festival organisers. However, if you want to incorporate text into your artwork, the festival dates are Friday 1st August - to Sunday 3rd 2008. The venue is near Llanfyrnach, Pembrokeshire.

The prize for the winning entry will be 2 tickets and a bumper goodie bag.

If you haven't experienced the fun, family eco- friendly Blue Rock festival then go to their website www.celticbluerock.org.uk for design inspiration and for all the festival info The community event is run entirely on the goodwill of local volunteers and all the bands play for free. Your own mini Glastonbury, there are six music stages showcasing the wide diversity of local music.

This years headliners are the feel good, pulsating ska- mongers Johnny Action Finger, returning to Pembrokeshire after their Glastonbury debut this is one band sure to get the crowd bouncing.

The festival has a strong green ethos with an area dedicated to the promotion and education of green issues. There is a safe chilled-out kids area with open creative workshops to engage all; numerous cafes and stalls;good onsite access and ample parking and camping facilities, you can even hire a tepee for the weekend!

All profits made are put back into supporting community youth arts and training schemes, with plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

All poster entries will be displayed on www.myspace.com/bluerockpeople a new space for volunteering news and arts based projects in the wider community .
