Arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, 21-year-old Daniel Sean Brooks of 16, Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, gave police a false name and address.
His reason, said his solicitor, was he had an 18-month prison sentence imposed in Manchester hanging over him and was now back in prison until January.
Crown Prosecutor Nick Newton told the court that Brooks was arrested at Monkton on July 2nd and gave his name as Christopher Robinson. But police checked his finger prints on their database and discovered his true identity. He had been convicted in October of a burglary in Manchester and was on licence.
His solicitor Alun Morgan said Brooks was in the process of moving to Pembroke Dock, where he has relatives, to get away from bad influences in Manchester and make a fresh start.
He had a long list of convictions and had spent a lot of his time in custody.
He gave false details because he had done nothing wrong and he wanted to make it more difficult for the police. Upon his release he hoped to get work and change his life. The magistrates imposed a concurrent jail sentence of 14 days.
