Hywel Dda NHS Trust has launched its new corporate identity during celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the NHS.

The trust based their logo on a Celtic symbol for health, and symbolises the former three NHS trusts in the mid and south west Wales areas coming together as one.

It was unveiled as part of 60th anniversary celebrations at Cilgerran Children's Ward at West Wales General Hospital on Friday.

"The diamond shape within the logo is derived from the Celtic symbol for health," explained associate director of human resources Janet Wilkinson.

"It is separated into one green segment pointing towards three blue segments that represent the former three Trusts."

Director of nursing and quality Caroline Oakley continued: "There are a lot of strengths, good practice and initiatives that were developed in the three former organisations and we are keen to harness this success and build upon it further within the new Trust.

"This means bringing the best of those three organisations together as one for the benefit of patients."

Employees of the 9000 strong new trust are now being asked to submit extraordinary or heart-warming stories of their time working for the health service. They will also have an opportunity to include their memories on a giant 60th anniversary card.

Trust Chief Executive Martin Turner said: "We are delighted to be launching the Trust's new corporate identity as part of our celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the NHS.

"Throughout Wales, and indeed here in South West and Mid Wales, the NHS is making huge progress in improving the quality of care for patients.

"We are very proud of the good work carried out by our staff on the ground on a day-to-day basis and we should celebrate this and continue to modernise and share best practice in order to improve further."

I presume it was either devised by some children at pre-school playing with plastic shapes, at zero cost to the Trust, or they employed consultants at a cost.
How much did it cost? Please advise.
I am more interested in knowing that when I need treatment, it will be there for me, though my aim is to keep away from hospitals, if humanly possible.
