Just weeks before J. D. Wetherspoon hopes to finalise its first move into Pembrokeshire, the pub giant has targeted several other towns in the county.

The J. D. Wetherspoon licence application for the former Wilton House pub in Quay Street, Haverfordwest is due to be heard in September, and the chain has now set its sights on five other Pembrokeshire towns.

Fishguard, Tenby, Saundersfoot, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock are all being examined for potential locations by Hutchings and Thomas charted surveyors.

Cardigan is also on the list.

A spokesman said: “J. D. Wetherspoon is looking at the towns in Pembrokeshire as potential locations for new pub openings. We regard the towns we have identified as having great potential for growth and believe they would benefit from the investment associated with the creation of a J. D. Wetherspoon outlet.

“The creation of a new Wetherspoon outlet, perhaps in a redundant building, can often act as a catalyst for further regeneration in the areas in which the new pub opens.”

J. D. Wetherspoon has almost 700 outlets across the UK. Would you welcome J.D. Wetherspoon to your town? Have your say below.

Welcome Wetherspoons? Been waiting for years!
The only people who have anything to fear are the existing pubs. But because of the quality of their outlets, the wide choice of beers, food, and most importantly for the punters, at good prices!
They actually raise standards.
Whats wrong with that?

Raising standards? Not sure about that. Different to what we already have, certainly. But whether it is that much better is a moot point. But I'm all for choice, so welcome Wetherspoons.

Having been turned away twice this week by Haverfordwest pubs when attempting to have lunch, the sooner Wetherspoon's comes here the better. The food may not be a la carte but at least the pub is open all day,not just hours to suit the landlord and you know they will not be out of food.
