Pembrokeshire's own Celtic Blue Rock Festival is in the running for several prizes in the prestigious UK Festival Awards 2008.

Billed as the "Oscars of the festival world", the awards have been running for four years now and are voted for by festival go-ers themselves.

The Celtic Blue Rock has been nominated in four categories: best small festival; best line up; family festival award and best toilets.

Voting for the finalists closes on October 13th , with the final votes to be cast before October 20th. The winners will then be announced on Thursday 30th. All voting takes place on the UK Festival Awards website and is as easy as clicking your computer's mouse.

This is not the first time that the small Pembrokeshire festival has gained recognition, for the past two years it has been highlighted the Observer's top 100 small festivals list.

The volunteer organisers are delighted to have now been nominated for the UK Festival Awards.

“It is so great to see our name on the list," said one of the organisers, Cris Tomos.

"Hopefully we will have a surge of voters over the next few weeks to ensure we are up there with one of the most popular small and family oriented festivals in the UK”

“We are relying on all our supporters to click their votes on line and are asking as many people as possible to cast their vote as soon as possible.”
