Round-the-world adventurer Rosie Swale Pope is all set to splash out on her latest challenge - leading hundreds of crazy festive bathers into the sea in her home town of Tenby.

Rosie, who made a triumphant return from her five-year global run in August, will head the hordes of fancy-dressed fund-raisers who take part in the 38th Tenby Boxing Day Swim.

Currently working on completing a book about her travels, the 62-year-old grandmother is delighted to be asked by the event organisers, Tenby Sea Swimming Association, to spearhead the plunge.

“I spent last Christmas in a car park in a blizzard in Canada, eating spaghetti and cheese, but I was there with the Boxing Day Swim in spirit,” she said. “One of the most wonderful things about being back in Tenby is that I am able to once again join in the swim, as it really is the highlight of Christmas in the town.

“I’m so proud to be chosen to lead all those marvellous people in, and I shall be right in there, getting soaking wet and raising lots of money for the swim’s charities.

In tribute to Rosie’s adventures, the fancy dress theme for this year’s swim will be Around the World.

Last year’s event attracted almost 600 entrants who raised over £17,000 for charities and good causes. If your organisation would like to be considered for a donation, then write as soon as possible to TSSA secretary, Mrs Nicole Evans, 8 Upper Hill Park, Tenby.

The main sponsor is once again FBM Holidays of Tenby.

Sponsor forms can be downloaded from www.tenbyboxingdayswim.co.uk or collected from the Fourcroft Hotel, Tenby.
