Although Pembrokeshire has so far escaped the blanket of snow covering Britain the Met Office is now warning the county to be prepared for heavy snow in the next few hours.
This morning the Met Office was telling us to be aware of possible snow. We are now being warned that heavy snow is 80% possible in the county within the next few hours and to be prepared.
Snow has now started falling in Haverfordwest and the Met Office said that periods of snow will continue to spread across Wales this afternoon and evening.
Up to five and ten centimetres of snow is expected, with the risk of 15 cm falling locally over high ground.
They advised the public to take extra care and refer to Traffic Wales, the Welsh Assembly's traffic management service which manages 300km of motorway and trunk roads in Wales via a network of 250 CCTV cameras, for further advice on road conditions.
Traffic Wales advises drivers travelling in snowy conditions to always leave plenty of time to complete a journey; listen to traffic reports on the radio to get an idea of road conditions and any incidents; keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you and avoid sudden movements, remembering that icy roads can increase stopping distances by 85%.
They also suggest drivers take a winter pack containing a mobile phone, warm clothes, food and drink and even a shovel if heavy snow has been forecast, on their journeys.
Traffic Wales' information line on 0845 602 6020 is open 24 hours a day offering up-to-the-minute traffic advice. Their website, www.traffic-wales.com, displays images from their network of cameras and real-time traffic information. You can also sign in for free personalised SMS and email traffic alerts.
The Western Telegraph website also offers a five day weather forecast and traffic updates on incidents in your area.
