Children from Coastlands school will greet Her Majesty the Queen who will arrive at the official inauguration of the South Hook Terminal in Milford Haven later this morning.

In an historic occasion the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and her Majesty the Queen will meet for the first time at an official engagement.

Her Majesty the Queen will be accompanied by the His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and His Royal Highness the Duke of York who will join hundreds of guests for the official ceremony.

The Deputy Premier & Minister of Energy and Industry of the State of Qatar Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah said: "I am delighted and honoured to be here in Wales today to mark the inauguration of the South Hook terminal.

"Today follows on from the successful Qatargas 2 event last month and marks the culmination of millions of man hours or work and dedication.

"I also recognise that the startup of South Hook Terminal is a major significance for the UK at a national and regional level and also that is has had a significant positive impact on the local economy," he added.

Chief Executive Officer of Total, Christophe de Margerie, said the company was proud to be a partner to Qatar and shareholder of such a 'giant project'.

"I am pleased and honoured to be here in Milford Haven today to inaugurate the South Hook terminal," he said.

The event's show production will be hosted at a specially erected dome on the South Hook site and will be attended by a large contigency of local and International dignatries.

ITV Wales anchor man and news journalist Hywel James who was brought up in Pembrokeshire will be master of ceremonies.

Morriston Orpheus Choir, Landsker Singers youth choir from Camrose, female soloist Gwawr Edwards and the Qatari youth choir will all perform at the show.

Her Majesty the Queen is expected to arrive at the South Hook site at 11.15am.
