A family’s anguish continues as they fight for justice for their daughter, who was killed last year in Yorkshire.
Jean and Cedric Hainsworth, from Begelly, have been waiting months for the trial of John Kelly, accused of killing their daughter, Pauline Silveria, aged 44.
Pauline and Kelly were married in 2007 after a “whirlwind romance” but she was stabbed to death in her home in Bridlington, on Wednesday, August 6th, last year.
Kelly was charged with murder and is due to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on June 24th.
Mr and Mrs Hainsworth have previously spoken little about Pauline’s death.
Mrs Hainsworth said: “It will be a year since Pauline died when the trial is. We just want it over and done with, it’s not fair on the children, on us, or her brother and sister.”
Mr Hainsworth added: “We should be getting over something like this now, or trying to, but you can’t. It keeps coming back up.”
Pauline lived in Saundersfoot for about six years, before joining her daughter in Yorkshire. She was well known in the area as she used to work in The Begelly Arms, Maria’s Cafe, the local chemist and was a doorman at the Prince of Wales, Tenby.
Pauline has left behind two sons and a daughter, as well as six grandchildren, one born in January who she never got to meet.
“I go into Saundersfoot on Tuesday and they are always asking, keep saying what’s happening to Pauline? They all keep saying they keep expecting her to come walking in and say hi, I’m back,” said Mrs Hainsworth.
She added: “She’d make friends with anybody, and I don't think half of her friends know what happened to her. Me and Pauline were always in contact and as soon as she got married to him the phone calls started dropping off.
“We’ve got to hang in there until its over with, but it is hard. I mean, he’s in custody, but we are serving a life sentence.”
