A Pembroke man's self gratification landed him in court when he was caught masturbating by the town's Millponds.

Forty-five-year-old Jeffery Edward Olive, of 28A The Green, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency at Haverfordwest Magistrates yesterday.

The court heard that two women walking around the Millpond on the afternoon of Sunday, May 10th, saw Olive on a bench obviously masturbating with his penis exposed.

David Weale, prosecuting, said that when they returned around five minutes later he was still performing the lewd act but his testicles were now also exposed. The women contacted the police, who apprehended Olive as he was returning home.

Mr Weale said that Olive "got a little frisky" while reading his newspaper but returned home because he felt guilty about what he had been doing and wanted to continue in privacy.

Mr Weale said Olive told police "I was just having a bit too much fun" but he had made sure there were no children around.

Defence solicitor, James Subbiani said that Olive had not been charged with exposure as he had not intended for people to see or cause them distress.

Mr Subbiani said: "He is hugely embarrassed by it and finds it hard to explain why he succumbed to those urges. It was a moment of rash stupidity on his part. He did not want to cause anyone distress or alarm."

Olive was fined £155 including £75 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.
